RE: FS: 1982 G-Wagen 5 door 5 cylinder Diesel

Miles 113K
VIN: 46023317020662

This is a 5-door 5 cylinder diesel, no a/c. It was imported as a greymarket vehicle in NY in 1982. It is currently titled and registered in Florida. It is all original, except for the alternator, and (belts tires, etc.)

The VIN is for a 280GE. This must be a diesel conversion; i..e. is is NOT "all original".

CAVEAT EMPTOR!! If it was legally imported in 1982, it would have been Federalized. Since the photos show no side marker lights, legal Federalization is questionable. Best check with Rena Lee at USDOT to be sure.

As I said above, it was brought in originally as a greymarket vehicle imported to NY, and is titled and registered in Fl.

What Dutch is saying is that if it was originally brought into the States before 2007 then it'd have to have been legally federalized, which means adding front amber and rear red marker lights, as well as a whole host of other changes. This is what my '80 300GD had to go through; thankfully the previous owner still had all of the original documentation for this.

It's a very rare yellow; can you take a close-up picture of the metal plate near fresh air inlet on engine's firewall, under windshield? It'll have a 4 digit code there of numbers; what is the code?(I'm an early W460 color nut). Thanks!
