RE: FS : 1986 300GD LWB

Posting expired - Description below...

$18,990
1986 Mercedes-Benz 300GD LWB
3.0L 5cyl non-turbo diesel engine.
This has been an awesome SUV for our family. I’ve used it as my daily driver over the years and it’s never let me down. It is incredibly reliable. Although I love this G, I have to let it go. It was repainted with the stock tan color. Bed liner was used for the bottom section for extra long lasting durability. Although painting was done by a professional, it is not perfect, don’t expect a show quality prize winner.
The G drives straight and feels great going down the road.
The interior is pretty good. I’ve been told it’s far better than most out there. There is a worn out spot on the driver seat from getting in and out so much but the passenger seat and rear bench look near new. Headliner looks new and the dash, etc. look good.
Included on the exterior:
• All lights work as they should.
• Front & Rear lockers
• Block heater
• Brakes are good, lots of life left
• Tires are good, lots of life left
Included in the interior:
• All gauges work as they should
• Radio is a new Alpine with accessory USB connection and bass tube.
• Clock still works
• Map reading light still works.
• Heat works great
• Has A/C option installed but doesn’t work
• Has cruise control option installed but doesn’t work.
Recent work completed: Brand new front drive shaft, oil & filter change, new fuel filter, air filter, glow plugs, and lubed the entire driveline. The differentials and transfer case just received fresh oil. The FR hub was recently rebuilt with all new bearings, seals, etc. The fuel sending unit was replaced about a year ago and the starter was just replaced with a rebuilt unit from .
The price is taking into consideration the opportunities for improvement… Mileage is estimated at 216k. It leaves a couple small drops of oil when parked. The speedometer squeaks when it’s cold; goes away after a few minutes. The light for the speedometer is out. The front windows are manual and work fine, the RR window is power and works but the LR doesn’t work (power). It has power door locks installed but it doesn’t work all the time. I never looked into it; doesn’t bother me. The RR bumper is missing. The previous owner backed into a stump, took it off but never replaced it. The rear defrost doesn’t work.
It’s a very good G and will make the new owner very happy.

Re: FS : 1986 300GD LWB

Too bad about the bedliner coating, very hard to remove.
People often put on bedliner to cover rust or body work. Having been offroad a fair bit, the only part of the vehicle that gets struck by rock debris of any significance is the rear wheel arch extensions and rear bumper ends.

I love that tan color on these early Gs. And, am looking for a diesel also. But, I agree with otiswesty. It's too bad about that bedliner.

Re: FS : 1986 300GD LWB

On the upside, the tan color is very cool.

Didn't mean to be lame and shoot it down, it's just that I have done that on one of my vehicle and kind of wish I hadn't. Best of luck with the sale. A good stock 300GD doesn't come along all that often.
