Gwagens Parked in Afghanistan

This was borrowed from the new old forum:

"The CDN minister of Defence announced that they will park most of the armoured G wagens in Afghanistan due to the number and large size of the IED's being used by the Taliban. All combat patrols will be transported in the LAV111's or the south African built Nyala 4X4 which have a V shaped armoured bottom to better deflect the blast of the mines buried under the roads.
The taliban and Al Quaeda have been grouping in large numbers and clashing with CDN and Nato troops in the south as we are securing these areas."

It was posted by a member of our community who has, apparently, not made it over here yet.

The Nyala is based on a Unimog, so it's still MB.

RE: Gwagens Parked in Afghanistan

There is a company over in South Carolina that makes the "Buffalo" and "Cougar" vehicles that are made for mine detection. The name of the company is Force Protection. The larger "Buffalo" has a V-shaped hull for deflection of explosives. Production has been ramped up of late on both vehicles. Some great videos on their site.
