Thanks for the vote of confidence. In many aspects of my life I am indeed a leader, however I have zero experience in leading a Treffen. I'm sure someone more capabe than I will grab the ball and run with it.

I will suggest one option.
11-9 10:00am meet point TBD near south end of trail.
Follow my posted route.
Noon. Have a nice trail lunch at one of the scenic vista.
We should finish my posted route around 5pm.
Contine to the state park for diner, drinks, fellowship and lodging of your choice.

Breakfast at the park.
Route for the day TBD.

Looks excellent to me.
If we reach a final agreement on this date, I'll make a campground reservation for my karavan for Fri and Sat nights. They have a 2 night minimum on weekends; so as soon as we set this thing in stone, I'll make my reservation. If it's allowed and if someone wants to pitch a tent, they are welcome to share the campsite; although probably more than one tent would be disallowed, since it would not be a group campsite. |

Being a Treffen Leader is like organizing any other get together of a diverse group of folks. Not a big deal!
I will suggest one thing that everyone PM the Treffen Leader with your Cell Phone and Email. Don't post that info here, unless you want the whole world to know.
Then the TL can email the list to the participants. Everybody having cell phone numbers of everybody on the trip can be quite handy when trying to meet up. |

Great idea!
I will give everyone until Monday AM to object to the prevailing date.
Saturday, November 9th and Sunday the 10th. Please PM me with name, eMail, cell and intended lodging. I will compile a list and disseminate it to those attending.
Cheaha State Park offers online reservations for their hotel, cabins, and campsites with reasonable rates. Availability is limited and weekends require a two night stay. If you are on a tight budget, camping is free in Talladega National Forest with restrictions.
A proposed route for Sunday AM is Cheaha State Park to Peidmont, AL. The first half will be paved on the Skyway Motorway until north of I-20. At Cleburne we continue on dirt through the Choccolocco WMA until we hit FS-500 to Peidmont. Roughly 3 hours, expect singe/double lane dirt/rock with occasional washouts.

I have a campsite reserved at Cheaha State Park for Fri & Sat nites, 11/8 & 11/9. There is room for one tent on the site in addition to my karavan. If you want to pitch a tent one or both nites let me know by PM or email

There's a hot shower there, too.

Hi guys, I'm just back from Burning Man and a Southern Utah trip. I need some recovering but I'm ready for this trip on November 8-10. Count me in. I'm looking forward to see some old travel companions.
