Re: G320CDI offered in German Mercedes site.

Wow! Great find Ze.

It looks like the stripped version is going to be a really stripped version! No parkatronic, no wood, no leather, no CD/DVD navigation, no cupholders, no carpet, no stereo system.

Xenon lights are optional.

The standard tires are 275/70R16 with 18" wheels optional. The front and rear bumpers are black and there is no charge for white or black paint. Step up to the metallic colors and there is a charge. The front foglights integrated into the bumper are also optional.

Re: G320CDI offered in German Mercedes site.

Well, it is not completely a stripped down version as far as I can see:

- Bi-Xenon is standard (as seen on the "serienausstattung" at the Sicherheit/Technik part)
- Wood is standard but it is not the nice dark burlwood
- Stereo system is standard (Audio 10 CD)
- Cupholders are a free option
- Front foglights are standard as well but in the configurator they are not yet the round versions that will be on upcoming facelift model (if you look closely you see G270CDI on the back of the car and on that model as on the G320 painted bumpers were/are optional)
- (lose extra) Carpets are never standard at MB in Europe but in reality the dealer (should) always gives them with a new car

I think if you take into account
1. the extra power
2. the 7Gtronic
3. standard Bi-Xenon the new price is understandable (but still very high)

LWB comparison (old models and the prices of February 2006) :
- G270 CDI - 156 hp - 59.000 euro (5-speed auto)
- G320 - 215 hp - 67.000 euro (5-speed auto)
- G320 CDI - 224 hp - 69.000 euro (7-speed + bixenon)
- G400 CDI - 250 hp - 83.000 euro (this was a V8 version which in Europe is much better equiped hence the price)
- G500 - 296 hp - 83.000 euro ( new price: 85.000 euro)
- G55 AMG - 476 hp - 111.000 euro (new price: 113.000 euro = small price for heaven ;-)

So today only the G320CDI-G500-G55AMG are available.

I really hope two things that
1. they do NOT change the appearance of the headlights
2. they DO change that steering wheel (today it is the ugliest I ever seen in the E-class where they changed it now with the facelift to the SL - CLS steering wheel much nicer)

I will start saving ;-)

Re: G320CDI offered in German Mercedes site.

Hey Zé,

The difference is pretty easy
G320 cdi L stands for LWB
G320cdi K stands for Kurz or SWB
G320cdi C stands for Cabriolet

Cabriolet and LWB (since automated top) are pretty in the same price range making the SWB somewhat cheaper.

You're right about the site, when you click on "Preise" or prices you still find the old February pricelist and the standard equipment. Nevertheless in Germany Multifunction Steering wheel was standard on all models.
Pricelist + standardequipment:
http://www.mercedes-benz.de/content/media_library/germany/mpc_germa...

Another thing which cannot be found if the G500 got the new more powerfull engine out the S-class.

Still I think you made a great choice (especially if you can't get grade A diesel in Brazil).

I went on a 4x4 Initiation course two weeks ago and hope to post some picture/movies soon, I had a great time, new Continental AT's were great !
