ericdab Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | interior leaks So while driving I have noticed a nagging drip on my gas pedal foot. A simple search yielded the following possibilities: 1. Loose wiper shafts and/or bad seals 2. Plugged air box or HVAC condensate Drains 3. Damaged air box or HVAC condensate Drains. Possibly damaged by ramming a coat-hanger up the tube from the bottom and into the side of the rubber elbows. 4. Plugged Sunroof Drains 5. Extra Holes in the bulkhead/firewall caused by a Jack-Legged Radio Installer 6. Bad windscreen seals 7. Bad door seals 8. Poorly sealed inner door membrane liner 9. Bad seal between the window frame and the bulkhead/firewall. 10.Leaving the windows down in the rain! 11. Clogged or dislocated drainage tubes from the A/C evaporator coil housing. So after a prelim search I found a couple things: 1) a loose driver-side wiper shaft with a bad seal (tightened & replaced seal) and 2) attached are some photos of my air intake box which was stuck in the open position. My questions are 1) there was no rust around wiper shaft (that I could see)...is further investigation required? and 2) What is the simplist way to clean/inspect the bottom of the air intake box for rot? some responses mentioned the a/c evaporator and it's inability to drain lots of liquid... how do I get in there? thanks for the help, eric (Vent.jpg) (InsideVent.jpg) (OutsideVent.jpg) Attachments ---------------- Vent.jpg (158KB - 10 downloads) InsideVent.jpg (151KB - 10 downloads) OutsideVent.jpg (145KB - 10 downloads)

I just need to find the right socket size for the steering wheel. I also have a problem with dried leaves blowing through the fresh air vents, and the motor that opens/closes it being tired, so it doesn't work without a hand. Checked at MB for the part, they said about £80! (~$145), if you want the part number I can get it, but again the 463 parts are not always a direct swap with 460 parts. I'd rather keep the "manual" flap open in summer, and close it in winter. I suspect the leaves are stuck somewhere near the blower motor, as I've cleaned out the bottom of the vent and the drainage hole.
