ptepaul - Any News?

Has anyone had any contact with or heard news from or about Paul Franklin? If so, please post to the forum.

As you may remember, this was his G in Afghanistan after a homicide car bomber attacked their convoy.

RE: ptepaul - Any News?

There are articles on him in our local paper every so often.  It seems he is currently spending about half his day in physio and the other half of the day at work on a base here in Edmonton training field medics and relearning how to so things.  There was a large article on him a few weeks back explaining how Hyundai Canada gave him a new Santa Fe SUV with hand controls to replace the one he and his family had purchesed a couple of years ago and he could no longer use for obvious reasons

I finally tracked him down at one hospital to be told he had moved to another which I was not told.  I finally found that one out through the media and when I finally got time to go there to visit him, he had been discharged to begin his physio part time.  At least this place was helpful.  I believe he is doing his physio there as well seeing as it is a rehabilitative hospital.

Thanks Steve

It sounds like he's making good progress.

I had someone approach me about donating a G to him. When I asked him about it, I got no response.

Glad he's doing well.

If you have any way to do so, let him know where we've moved; and we'd love to hear from him.

RE: Thanks Steve

I had a great exchange with hilm, but it was over a month ago. I too have wondered where he is, since the sites have shifted for some of us, I hope that someone has kept him in our fold. A very good and noble human being.

RE: ptepaul - Any News?

I would like to contact him too, the last time he emailed me was to give permission to name the renovated BRIXMIS G, Charlene 2. And that is what it will say on the door in his honour when it debuts at the Duxford military show in 2 weeks. I sent him a box of Cuban cigars which he said he liked, I hope he got them.

Re: ptepaul - Any News?

Good to get an update. I also heard that the Canadians are pulling out the G's in favor of heavier armour plate on other vehicles. I hope he knows how much he is appreciated.
