Hello everyone,

I have a '82 280GE LWB with the stock 16x5.5 steel wheels.

I am looking for a set of 15x7 or 15x8 wheels. I want to run 32x10 tires for a little more offroad traction.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Sean P.

Re: Wheels

why go down to the 15? is it to get a wider wheel? I mean they make a tone of 32 inch off road tires in 16's inch.

16's would be fine, but I want something 7" to 8" wide so I can run a 10" tire. Can anyone point me to a good place to buy a set of 5?

RE: Wheels

I see a couple of options.  You can stick with what you have and use a 235/85/16.  This is around 32 inch or taller.  Dave G. (Hipine) uses this size and has spoken very favourably of them.  You can also possibly find a shop to replace the outter rim and keep the centres.  This way you could put on wider outter rims and still have the EXTREMELY strong G centres.  Paint them up nice and you are in business.

Skinny tires aren't too popular in NA for some reason but they can offer superior traction in many situations, especially in shallow mud, firm uneven surfaces, etc.  It all depends on your needs.  I think this size comes with a pretty high load rating as well, certainly better than a 32/11.50/15 in most cases.

Just a thought.

Take care,
Steve
