More Tire Questions

My G has nice yet very non offroad tires on it ATM.
I have the orig. 16 in steel rims and was wondering what size, brand would work.
Right not they are Pirelli Scorpians 215/80 R16 and are good road tires but really look kind odd on the G
Any Suggestions

Re: More Tire Questions

You really can't go wrong with a set of BFG AT KO in your stock tire size, its arguably one of the best all around all terraine tires going. It's only real weakness is with mud because it doesn't self-clean like a full mud terraine tire will.

I'd second what Belosch says...I have a set on my '02 G-500 and they work fine. You can also get them in more sizes than just about any other all-terrain tire.

One more thing about BFG AT KO...all the sizes are all LT-rated.

Look here:

215/80R16 103S Yokohama Geolandar AT G011,
an excellent All Terrain!!
Whatever you do, be careful with bigger Tires, they will make your car slow.
After good looking your car is still slow, you need a long time for the next tire change.

Re: More Tire Questions

I do have the Geolandar AT G011 in 31x10,5R15 on my truck, and I'm very satisfied with them. I haven't had the chance to do any offroading with them, though. You should be able to get them in a comparable width and diameter as mine. 31x10,5R15 is the same as 255/75R15, so for your rims, you should look for 255/70R16.

Re: More Tire Questions

I do not want stupid looking "monster" tires just something that helps in the mud and snow and to make the thing look more like a 4X4 then a road car that it is not.
As for bigger tires making it slower, with a 2.3 L engine there is no such thing as slower

Re: More Tire Questions

Go to the BFG website for some comparison info. BFG AT's are rated as snow tires and are fantastic in the snow. Not too noisy on the road. Excellent tires for the G. I think they even look good.
