firstmb Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Service A or Service B Its almost a year now that I bought the ML and I have around 8500 miles on the car. According to car/service level indicator, Service B is needed in other 4500 miles. I have following questions regarding the service: 1. Does my car need Service A or Service B, I have not gone for Service A, then why does car says Service B is needed in other 4500 miles? 2. What is the difference between Service A & Service B 3. Should I wait for other 4500 miles as recommeded by car or just go and get the service done now? TIA

It will tell you what service needs to be done. I have the pdf of w164 manual. If i find the directions on how to check what service needs to be done using the multifunction display and the steering will controls i will post it.

Does my car need Service A or Service B, I have not gone for Service A, then why does car says Service B is needed in other 4500 miles? TIA After leaving the Dealership Showroom, The indicator on the FSS does not always reflect the real next service level. When in service the technician will have to interface with the Car Computer to identify the required service. Only after manually resetting the FSS that the Level letter reflects truly the next service. Mine was delivered also with a B and the SA told me he had seen new ML's leaving the showroom with C as the next "Fist Service".

Does my car need Service A or Service B, I have not gone for Service A, then why does car says Service B is needed in other 4500 miles? Fss automatically decide what service needs to be done. 3. Should I wait for other 4500 miles as recommeded by car or just go and get the service done now? I asked the same thing with the E320 when it was around 8000 miles. The service manager said they couldn't do it until it reached 13,000. I took delivery of the E320 in October 2004. It just reached 13,000 a month ago. I payed $250 for service B . By the way your first tire rotation should be free.

jean7of9 Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Re: Service A or Service B I always changed the oil and replaced the oil filter on my E320 4matic at about half the recommended mileage by MB. I simply paid for the service and asked them not/not to reset the FSS until the next scheduled service. I am doing the same thing on my BMW 330xi and will adopt same habit on the ML. The dealer will perform any service ahead of schedule as long as you are willing to pay for it.

firstmb Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Re: Service A or Service B Thanks everyone for the valuable feedback. I have scheduled service tomorrow and dealer will determine whether the car needs Service A or Service B. Its to better to follow MB Manual even though the car says Service B in 4500 miles.
