To get the old lines back into shape and have an additional coating on the new MB and cunifer lines, I copied the idea of coating the lines with an (epoxy) paint. I used Rust-o-leum Hard Hat primer and top coat (RAL 6011) and gave these lines a coating. Next time I might go for a little darker green to copy the MB a little better, but this was the only subtle color available at the hardware shop. Ral 6011 is used a lot on Industrial machines and the iron-boxes 711.110 or 711.113 are sometimes painted in this color as well. See pictures: I made a couple of new lines out of 3/16" cunifer with M10x1 nuts using the old ones as template (you can also use 4,75mm lines, with is the same diameter as 3/16" Sanded all brakes lines with grit 240, after cleaning coated them with Hard Hat grey primer Finish painting them with top coat RAL 6011 (will make some better pics ones I got some lines installed) And for some details: MB uses the DIN convex flare on their lines, so I made these on my lines as well. The SAE convex flare is shown on top as well. I think the SAE and DIN will both work, as the top angle seems pretty similar, but the rear on the DIN flare is 90 degree, while the SAE flare is angled there too (supposedly this is the old style bubble flare). Of course use the M10x1 metric nut. Next week some pics of the installed lines on the car. gr. I'm using the Midlock 7205-B brake flaring tool with the 4,75mm die-set and DIN punch insert. Depending on the die and punch set, this set can make many type of flares. Works really well. Because of the press-type operation, even the hard MB steel lines make a nice and solid flare. gr. Bram | ||
