Hi Everyone. 2002 G500 with 200K miles. EPS, ABS, Brake Light failure, etc. came on today. First thought was battery or alternator. Both ok. So, next thought is K-40 relay? I looked for this in the forum and found something about K-40 relay, but want to ask here. Thoughts? I need to fix tomorrow so my daughter can drive while I pull her Tranny in her 500GE this weekend. Thank you in advance. AGuess

I had the same problem with my 2002 and it turned out to be the voltage regulator. I would take another look at the alternator. Good luck let us know what you find. G4me

I’ll get alternator tested at another place. Pulling tranny on 500GE to fix bad oil leak, rear main engine seal and replace bad gasket in transmission making it slow to go in reverse.

I have the same problem also with slow reverse gear. I will pull mine also. I also bought a new torque converter and Kevlar transmission bands from Jono.

Update: Battery and alternator are ok. I ordered a brake pedal switch today to be safe, not expensive. Tonight I hooked up a new Star Diagnostics tool, see my post about that made tonight. It told me that I have a bad ESP break pressure sensor, I’ll order one. I cleared the codes using the new star tool and will update this post after I change the pressure sensor. Thanks for all of your help.

OT on the 500GE trans issue, but these reverse gear syncros can wear due to a wobbling transmission pump in the nose cone which will also cause leaks. The R gear is closest to the pump and goes first. Pump will need rebuilding with the trans work. I had this issue with my 1995 G320 722.3 and a basic rebuild was under $1500 including R&R and engine main seal replacement.

YChung, I am sorry but the dealer did not order the brake pressure sensor, that appears to only come as part of the brake booster assembly. I have found a few using google search, but I have no idea if the old one will come out of the brake booster or these parts will fit. My dealer ordered the travel sensor, I will change it and update if my warning lights stay off. Otiswesty, My friend who is a MB mechanic at dealer removed the cover from the pump last night, we expected to find one of the two white Teflon? seals bad, what we found was that the inside black rubber seal had a tear in the lip, causing fluid to pass by as pressure builds up. New seal ordered today. All interior parts look great, so we are just replacing all seals, which should fix the problem. Thank you again. AGuess
