Braingears Expert Date registered: Apr 2006 Location: St Petersburg, FL Vehicle(s): G320 & ML320 Posts: 1450 | Replace G320 Exhaust System My Europa G320 Exhaust System is completely shot! It died this past weekend, and now I can be heard from several blocks away. The cat is split apart, and the resonator is literally hanging on the pipes. When I put my hand over the exhaust pipe, nothing comes out... I live in Florida, and don't have to worry about any inspections at all. Does anyone make a reasonable complete replacement exhaust system? Can I adapt a single side exhaust from a G55 to replace it?

Appreciate the information. It does appear that the exhaust components are still available from MB, at least they were the last time I checked earlier this year.

Asked again in July and that time he showed me that there is some code like permanently unavailable- repair the original part if possible or contact Classic Center. I am not a big fan of aftermarket parts but as my catalyst was rattling really badly I decided to go for the Bosal catalyst from the parts store.

I set it up just like the factory. Muffler on passenger side then pipe goes over rear axel to mate to second muffler and exit just in front of drivers side rear tire. Has been fantastic. With yours most muffler shops have aftermarket CATS. Place the cat just before the Magnaflo. I did this on my current 84 300GD that I am restoring as well. Luky- have you (or anyone here) used kat-versand? I'm in the same boat but with a Europa G500, in need of new cats. Kat-versand will build a new cat, but they need the original cat to be sent to them in Germany. I'm not aware of a Magnaflow part for the Pre MBUSA G500. Edited by paulunm 9/27/2019 9:24 AM

CATS are pretty generic and are readily available. All this takes is finding/fitting the proper mufflers and CATS for the system and having the pipes formed/bent to put it all together. I think my entire system for my 463 cost me around $850. If you are however an exhaust purist then MB is the "expensive" way to go. Edited by Inkblotz 9/28/2019 7:22 AM

Mark, you did not install a muffler over the rear axle, correct? I remember on my 91 300GE, I replaced that muffler with the simple pipe from that 300GD. Your new exhaust system looks very professional and neat.

I think the G320/G36 m104 like you have is just a single down pipe as opposed to 2 pipes for the V8 and maybe the m112 V6 as well. I got a set of NOS MB mufflers from Russia a few years back for about $650. My cat is still holding up okay, but won't last forever. Edited by otiswesty 9/28/2019 11:33 PM

Would you mind sharing pics once you purchase from Timevalve? They tell me they don't make a system for the pre MBUSA G500, but I've been under the impression at least the cat back system is the same for the 320 and 500.
