If so then I think your clutch(s) within the gearbox may be fried, you can rebuild one or two that are bad but this is usually just the begining of teh whole thing going bad, thats why I just got a new gear box when mine did this.  | |

Twodogs yes i was but i read on another thread in here that i shouldn't push the dipstick all the way in when checking the level is that correct | |

This is NOT something that you want to do yourself. Trust Me. It is about as complex as Diesel Injection Pump. Everything must be VERY Clean. The seals, and setting must be exact, and you will not have access to all of the specialty tools that you will need. I used a Mercedes Mechanic. He told me if I remove the transmission, he would rebuild it (with parts and fluids) for $800. He was able to get the parts for 1/3 of the price that I could. It now runs better than before. During the process, I learned a lot about how these transmissions work. I also learned not to drive my truck through 4 feet of water (over the hood) and allow water to go down the dip-stick tube. | |
