To remove face plate do you just gently pry away from dash of do you have to loosen from behind by going under dash? Tried to upload photo but no worky. Thanks. I had this problem in my 2002. I bought a replacement switch, but the OG just needs to be snapped back into position. I can't remember how to pull the switch but a google search may be your friend here.

Does this sound familiar? The nut must hold the switch to the facia? The only reference I could find did not specify year just early W463. I am running a 2002 but the description makes sense. Look at these pictures of the C-class switch which is essentially the same. The face plate will come off, but it is the switch getting pushed back into the switch body. The switch assembly is just pressed in to an opening, held by the yellow zink plated clips. So you can get behind it and push the whole thing out and forward toward the driver seat. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2001-2009-Mercedes-W203-C320-C230-Headlight... Just for the future record what you describe is correct. Do not grab the turn switch with a pair of pliers and a rag as described for early W463 when working on a 2002. It results in broken plastic and the metal clips falling onto the floor board/driver footwell. Ask me how I would happen to have direct experience with this. Onto the repair. It looks like Vlad has the headlight switch assembly on his website. It also looks like it would be easiest to remove the instrument cluster and access from above rather than below? Either way, unclip the wires from te switch and then push the whole assembly out from behind or does it have to come out from the back? If the metal clips secure it inplace seems it would have to come out the back? Any experience with this or a description from WIS ? Thanks G4me
