Transmission Sound

Well today the 2002 ML500 has made a sort of clunk or drop sound when upshifting from a lower RPM. Is this normal or insignificant or is this a sign of a failing transmission?

RE: Transmission Sound

How many miles do you have on it? Have you changed the fluid yet? I do not believe the sound you describe is normal.

About 55,000 miles, not sure on the fluids. The car should still be under warrenty as we bought it Starmark certified.

RE: Transmission Sound

I would keep my ear on it to see if it does it again. As far as the fluid change goes, they will NOT do this under starmark so you'll have to foot the bill. Mine costed about 285.00. I wouldn't let it go past 60K, no matter what they say. They will tell you they are sealed for life but that is B.S.

anyone else?

The next service is in about 3,000 miles so we might get the fluid changed then.
