thoughts on retrofitting air con to non-air con 280gel

Picked up a 85 280gel that does not have factory air con.

Thinking on retrofitting a generic (japanese parts) system intergrated into factory hvac system.

Figure to use generic compressor, condensor, condensor fan, dryer bottle and fan coil blower under the dash.

Get a factory three pulley for the crankshaft and fabricate a custom compressor mount and hoses.

Love to get some advice.

Re: thoughts on retrofitting air con to non-air con 280gel

I have heard of this done before--in Malaysia. Cycle and Carriage Bintang Sdn Bhd put in Nissan air conditioning systems in old 460 Gs. My local mechanic said he has put in air conditioning in Mercedes using parts from Autozone store (major retail chain of auto parts and supplies in the States).

Years ago I thought about converting my 95 Mitsubishi Montero (Pajero) to a LWB G. Yes, this was basically changing the body and some accessories making it into a kit car. I was going to keep the Mitsu trans, engine, AC, etc...
