Short article..diesel talk, but not for the US market. Again pricing causing the issue in the US market. Also from the pictures one can see the new interior bits talked about over the last few months are not yet updated, but I am told that indeed the interior WILL receive a revision/s. DVD/Better paded front seats/switches/etc. Enjoy..!

FYI..guys..!

RE: 2007 Info Link..!

well i don't like xenons, but i'm happy at least the headlights look good. The fogs a little funny i think.

Intersting for me is the windshield wipers have changed (i guess new windshield wipers doesn't sell cars) ... that i'm curious about... maybe a little upgrade-itis in my future... a clear windshield is one of my pet peeves... anybody ever get perfect performance out of the rear wiper?

Actually, it was the thin (wimpy) look of the existing wipers that i got a negative comment on from one of my my architect friends... i told him to think back to '79. Perhaps these would have suited his aesthetic better. Looking twice, i almost wonder if it's a shroud over the same base. Either way, It's got a little air foil also.

Wow...that engine bay sure looks crowded! The HIDs look a bit alien-eyes to me. But, i would have liked HIDs on my G. Oh well, the current headlights ain't bad.

One thing that i would love to have is the DVD NAVI...but that interior shot is the old inside. Isn't it odd that the site has updated pics of the outside, yet the same inside?? Is MB really gonna update the interior??

Some photo oddities

I wonder if the engine shot is of a functioning car. There is a coolant hose that is simply cut off.

Also, part of the reason the engine compartment seems so crowded is that the engine is pushed pretty far forward. The catalytic converter appears to be behind the head and above the transmission bell housing. That is the reason for all that krinkley aluminum heat shielding. It's got to get really hot in there.

I think this is the update. Look at the leather wrapped door handle.

Either way, It's got a little air foil also. :shoot:

The air foil has been arround since at least 2003. What ever the case, I switched to Silblade. No air foil, but so far they are performing far better than the OEM's. They cost a bit more but no more chatter or uneven wiping.

I'm using the winter silblades... best so far, but still finnicky none-the-less. I had to play around with flipping the orientation to get best results.

Wow...that engine bay sure looks crowded! The HIDs look a bit alien-eyes to me. But, i would have liked HIDs on my G....

One thing that i would love to have is the DVD NAVI...

Did someone say HID headlamps for the G? Here is one option that I did, using bi-level electromechanical actuators that replace the standard H4 bulb assembly, and use the "R" or "reflector" type of HID bulbs. Quite an improvement over the H4, and it looks incredibly cool with the purply HID lamps above the yellow city-lights in the reflectors...yet when turned off, there is no visible difference when looking at the lens assembly, since they're standard H4 assemblies. Not as perfect as a "projector lens" type of HID lamp, but a really big improvement from the stock incandescent H4's.

I fabricated the brackets to hold the ballast and igniter assemblies, installed inside the fender area, just behind the lamp buckets. All stainless and aluminium with rubber bushings for vibration reduction.

Let me know if anyone wants details. This installation took a whole lot of planning, but so far as performed excellent since I did it in December last year.

Did you mention "Navi" for a pre-MBUSA G? How about 3d navi, with DVD/CD/MP3 video/audio, XM radio, live TV, WiFi/aircard, HF/VHF/UHF 2-way radio control (integrated RTTY and Airmail for the hams out there), full blown email/web browser, bluetooth cellphone/pda interface, OBM-II vehicle interface for real-time vehicle peformance/dynamics, primary display is 7" in the dashboard, secondary display in the instrument cluster and steering wheel button control? just wait a couple weeks.... It's on my bench now, fully functional...but of course with a few bugs.

Nobody panic; what was released from MB was a brief overview of what's to come.

Could be. Hopefully in a few months it will be closer to completion with custom winch bumper and the stuff I've already mentioned. I'll be posting some pics of the carputer system soon.
