Oil change-whats wrong ? ttaleric-?

OK today morning i was going to change my oil (first time by myself) -(used to change oil at local Shell station) but Mityvac extracted about 6 qt.............WTF
i had low oil or its becouse Mityvac cannot extract all the oil from engine ???
i am freaking out......

The oil capacity is 8.5 qts. (approxiamate). If you got out 6, maybe it didn't get it all because your low oil light comes on right at a quart low.

Hmmm Mad, slide the tube down there a little further. Pump it more. If you see air bubbles in the pipe that means that it is empty. If so I would look into Oil Consumption.

Mad with my first change i had about 9.2 in mine.

Is where I picked mine up.

Mad.. Try pulling the plug too. I did not have to because I just kept pumping for a bit to remove all oil using the MityVac.

But then i was able to put 8.5 qt -so i guess MityVac did his job good.....
i am just not sure if Shell guys put 6 qts instead of 8.5 or something going on with my engine.I dont beleave that 2 qts of oil can just dissapear........

BTW guys how often you change your oil ?
every 3 , 5 , 7 or 10 K miles ???

when my ML was new i changed my oil when it hit 3K miles without resetting the FSS then my milage reached up to close to 13Kmiles for my B service since then I always change my oil when the FSS tells me to, which is 10K miles or less. Using 0W-40 Mobil 1 Full sythetic.

I change mine when the FSS tells me to do so (usually around 12K miles). I have never been down more than half a quart between changes, and my Mityvac always gets every last drop.
