Persistence Pays…..!!

If you guys remember, I had reported about fuel gauge would not work after filling gas from the particular gas brand/station... Wolfgang, had posted following article about this problem..

http://www.whnet.com/4x4/bad_fuel.txt

Based on this information, I contacted customer service of Phillips Connoco and reported the problem of fuel guage not working after I fill up gas at one of their stations.. and requested them to check it out.

As always, PC denied any problem, and stats that their fuel meets all federal regulations. No surprise...!! Then, I had a series of conversation with their fuel specialists, other representatives at PC and.. to cut long story short, I got a call stating that Phillips Connonco will reimburse 500$ for the problems I faced.. and I should expect check in the mail very soon..

Not bad...

PS: Thanks to Wolfgang for posting the link to article, it really helped. Same issue was also discussed in Chicago Tribune, in the article other brands/cars like Mazda/Suzuki/Toyota/Honda were mentioned.. so this seems to be a wide spread issue.

I experienced the same problem few years ago with a Shell Canada new formula for winter gas. The deposits inside the fuel tank clogged the fuel sending unit. MB replaced the fuel sending unit on my E-Class under warranty and cleaned the fuel tank. Eventually, after many years of legal feuding with several thousand customers, Shell Canada paid the repairs for those who wisely kept their receipts.
