Rear Ended.... Need Help...!!

Well, while going to work my car was rear-ended.

I was stopped as the car in front of me was waiting to take left turn and the jerk in Hyuandi Accent rear ended my car. Actually there is no visible damage just a light scratch on a rear plastic skid plate.

I have taken his drivers License information, address, insurance details, but did not call police as there was virtually no damage.

I am still going to take the car to the dealership today and get it inpsected, and if there is any damage , I can still file the claim with the insurance company.

What do you guys think. Hope, I did not mess up..!!

TIA

RE: Rear Ended.... Need Help...!!

I was rear ended by a 1988 Toyota Camry about 5 months ago. No damage but it cracked his bumper. In his fit of excitement, he admitted to rear ending another person just a few hours before. I asked him if he thought that his attention span was a little shorter while he was on the cell phone.

You never mentioned whether or not the speed of the impact was over 5 or so mph. Most low impact damage isn't visible unless you remove the rear bumper to examine the part underneath. If you were reasonably sure at the time that you weren't damaged, I don't think you messed up. You can always approach him or his insurance to pay the damage if any is found.

I think the speed at the impact would have not been more then 10mph, but one can never be sure. Atleast visibly there is no damage just a very minor scratch on plastic skid plate, but will go to the dealer and get it inspected.

Thanks for your feedback.

We had someone rear end us a while ago. There were a lot of scratches on the bumper. But we found out it was more than that. The whole bumper had deformed upon impact, and then popped back out. Imagine that!

Interesting. Those are some interesting bumpers Asian. You could have easily sold the car to some unsuspecting stupid person, and they would have had themselves a Broken ML.

Sad to hear about it FirstMB. Yea, take it to the MB dealership, and see what they think of it.

One thing I failed to mention was that the Toyota hit my trailer hitch with the rubber cover on it. Get you a towing package installed for future inattentive drivers.

took car to the dealer, and there were no issues found.

As suggested will have to get the towing package installed just for those stupid drivers, not a bad idea.

Hehe, our tow hitch sticks out about an inch or two. Watch out people! :o The light thingy doesn't work. We just put it in there to stop the rust build up. Or at least to slow it down.

just curious, how can a tow hitch stop the rust build up or slowing it down?

Re: Rear Ended.... Need Help...!!

I was hit at a traffic light in the winter time. It looked as if no damage, but later upon close inspection, there was a hairline crack about four feet long in the bumper. The cost to replace and paint was over $1,000. The trailer hitch is a great idea!
