The New Doghouse

It took a while, but the dog finally got his 'car'. A 2005 Firemist Red G55K ... thanks to everyone who helped him get it

Damn, that photo is big

Re: The New Doghouse

Thanks guys!

The dog is an Alaskan Malamute and the color is original. It was the display car for the 2005 NY Auto Show and is fully loaded ... even has the Voice Command system with the V60 Motorola phone cradle (which I need to figure out if I should buy the MIK BOX, or a new phone, or the Bluetooth adaptor or just not use it?)

Been a long time since I had a new car, so lots of manuals, switches and knobs my old car never had ... best way to learn all that crap is a road trip

RE: The New Doghouse

Great package (the dog and the car), my girlfriend immediately screamed out that that was the color she would like her G-wagen to be That's all part of the future plan ...

What's that thingamajig attached to the roof (as seen in the second pic)?

I've never seen a G55 from up close ... you think you could road trip this way ... so I could have a better look?

See you around then ...

That is the seat belt for the second row middle seat ...

I would love to drive by and show you, but I don't think the CD Nav will get me there

Never seen a seatbelt attached to the roof(liner) ... hmm, interesting.

What about me sending you a copy of TomTom Navigator, that way you would at least be able to find your way around Europe

RE: The New Doghouse

Wonderful car; glad you finally got one! Does this mean you're not going to get the 6.3?

How many miles on the G?

RE: The New Doghouse

5,200 miles

I'm still planning on getting a G63 or G550, but they won't be released in the US until Aug 2007, and I want to give them time to work the bugs out ... so this is 'my foot in the door' G ... and it's a very nice fit so far

Re: The New Doghouse

mb230,

I called AWS (the MB autho'ed car phone provider) and they were extremely helpful ... the Bluetooth is definitely the way to go to upgrade the Motorola V60 phone for the Voice Command system. They sell it for $325, but I hear some MB Dealers sell it for as low as $258 ... now I need to find one of those Dealers

I checked with Steve of NL Benz a month or so ago and he was sending people to AWS.  I meant to check w/ Caliber Motors also but never got around to it.  I'll try to do it this week.

RE: The New Doghouse

Nice ride. It must be a great feeling to own a G from day one knowing that it will always get the best care, fluids, proper wiring of aftermarket items without having to guess what a previous owner's mechanic did etc etc. My last new car was a Dodge 2500 Cummins in 1995 anf it has received all the best as I described above which probably explains why it still looks like new and is still running strong at 280,000 miles and my conscious wont let me sell it due to its dependability and well kept history., although I am hankering for a W463 in the future of circa 1995.

RE: The New Doghouse

If you could go easy on the miles and throttle and plan to sell to a friendly forum member in 2010 that would be super!... or should i say that would be kompressed!

It's definitely a glamorous car, but darkening and metallic in the red look pretty darned nice...
