I did not want to drill holes and have either the plate edge sticking up over the bumper or under the bumper edge. The bracket will be easily removed when going off road or pulling out Land Rovers. Clever idea and great execution. I drilled into my bumper and fitted the plate to carefully hide a dent in the bumper inflicted by previous owner. When I get around to fixing that detail I will have to borrow your solution. Like totally killer dude. -Dai

I need to take a class on welding. I thought of doing something similar using wood or better yet--plastic. I would have the same u-shaped design piece screwed on the back of the bracket. Then the license plate would cover the screwed area.

Now if we could just get you to set up production on the plate brackets and Garret on the trailer hitches, we'd be all set.
Happy 4th!

Looks like som of the cars on the link below has the same option. The link is from the norwagian off-road forum, a G-fan in service in Afghanistan took the pictures. The car on picture number six from above has a linked number plate with two spings. The springs allow the license plate to stay up/open when towing, these are original MB/GW parts. The parts are expensive, app. $100 for the plate in Europe, add more for links ans spings. http://www.offroad.no/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=56057&SearchTerms=af...

I enjoy seeing what others do. My only regret is that I never learned ther languages to enhance the G experience. Mike
