With what tires were G's factory-equipped in the 1980s?

I'm looking for standard issue tires (preferably best for on-road use) to put on my G. I still have factory alloys.

Anybody know what tires Gs were leaving Graz with in 1987, and whether these tires are still available? If they're not, I'd be happy to hear what non-pimp tires people have enjoyed using on their Gs.

When I drove a landy, I had good experiences with BFGs.

Thanks.

G-Man,

Here is a link from Harald Pietschmann's website that has a great informative page on Gwagen rims.

Good Luck with your search,

Thanks, guys. I see the tire sizes I can use. What I'm wondering is what make and model tire these trucks left the factory with, and whether they're still sold.

MfG,

Lucas

My 1984 280GE was delivered from the factory with 205R16 tubed - yes, tubed - Michelin XC M+S radial tires on 16" steel wheels.

I think that Goodyear Wrangler was one of the tires used on the alloys back then. I have what I think is the original spare from my truck. Personally I think BFG AT's are fantastic on the truck in that size.
