1985 230GE top end engine rebuild - need HELP!

Hi there everyone, glad to land on the new G community(with some familiar names here)! Great job from the moderators and other contributors to keep the G spirit alive
I lately found rapid losses of water from the radiator and after close inspection, I found water stain mark on top of the front axle. On removal of the manifold and other parts of engine, it clearly shown the leakage is from cylinder water jackets. The engine top end itself also in need of good rebuild job with replacement of water jackets, water pump, thermostat, radiator hoses, cam chain, tensioner, engine suspension, cylinder head PARTS, piston ring sets and the list goes on
The local part dealer is uncertain with the water pump as it's not with the similar part # as the saloon car type. My G chassis # is W46023827042656. Please advise.

Best Regards

Thanks Steve!

The local part dealer here is unable to locate the water pump bearing the part # A102 200 40 01. I may have to try EuroTruck...

W.James,
Yes, I did that quite often but the part # obtained from the web site might not match those shown in part dealer's EPC as certain parts are only applicable up to designated chassis or engine number or simply discontinued.

RE: 1985 230GE top end engine rebuild - need HELP!

Selamat pagi KL!  Or I should say selamat malam.  Apa kabar? I don't mean to get off the subject; but do you have a local G club in Malaysia.  I know many years ago Cycle and Carriage Bintang sold CBU and CKD Gs.  Was yours from C&C Bintang?

I saw a picture of what looked like a black G in yesterday's Star newspaper that was in the Customs Dept impound.  I wonder which MP will bid on that confiscated vehicle.  Or was that the one Mohammad Said Yusof wanted? Hehehe!!!

Look at the vehicle in the rear upper righthand corner.  It looks like a G.

Terima kasih.

Selamat pagi Aaron,
Are you currently working/studying in US? Where's your 280GE at the moment? Glad to see more G appears locally (of course not the latest RM1.6mil G55AMG from NAZA....)

The black vehicle looks more like ML to me! Mohd Said could be eyeing on that as well

My G is from Swee Lee Auto of Pahang and was one of twenty(20) imported by SL back in 1985~86.

Jumpa lagi,
KL Hoh

Sorry Dutch, I shall stop now, it's off topic!

Re: 1985 230GE top end engine rebuild - need HELP!

No, I have lived here for almost 30 years. I first saw a G (on TV) when I was 9 years old. The first G I saw in person was when I was 12 at the 1984 Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo. You need to see the topic "What Inspired Your First Gwagen Purchase."

My mother is from KL. Many of my aunts and uncles as well as cousins are still in Malaysia. So I travel there every couple of years. By the way, my G is here in Little Rock, Arkansas (like the profile states). I am an engineer for a major telecommunications company. Unlike my parents who earned their degrees in the UK, I studied here I the US.

Naza sells a G55? I had no idea the G was offered anymore in Malaysia. Whoa! RM1.6 million translates into US$400,000! I know the import and road taxes in Malaysia can go as high as 300%. But if you are an MP, you are exempt from those taxes. Mohamed Mahathir drives a Porsche Cayenne that his son gave him. From what I understand, his son paid the at cost amount which means he bought the Cayenne for the price of a Honda Civic.

Anyways, I'd like to see more pics of Gs in Malaysia if you have them.
