new wheels :) stud question

IM sure this probably a dumb question but my new wheels came today and of course the factory lugs will are to long. They bold down fine but let the wheel slide on the lug /stud. So I went digging threw my garage of crap and found the stud's that i got with my last set of 16's. I threaded them in and they fit like a champ. Just seem to me there should be more threads holding on the stud in place sense it hold the wheel on.

The studs came from Brent who got them from chuck. They are listed on chucks web page. With better pictures. I don’t have any new bolts /nuts though to hold the wheel on the stud. I guess I get those at home depot or Lowes...

Ill post a link to the picture of the studs, and yes they are crap pictures like usual... i need a new camera

you can see in the picture the grease, after the grease the shine section is where the thread stop and going to a different pattern... ill photo shop a circle for you...

RE: new wheels :) stud question

Kerr, as a "Thumb rule" the threaded holding length should be twice of the threads diameter, i.e. thread diam. 14mm = threaded holding length 28mm.

hope this will help.

If you are looking for different lengths I found that "Gorilla" makes the studs and bolts for our application. They also have some open end lug nuts to use when you have the steel wheels on but still leave enough length for the factory wheels.

Just some FYI.

i might see if i can find this gorilla company. i think these studs are to short for the steel wheels. the thread depth is little less than ahalf inch.
