Greetings to all: We have a 2005 E320 CDI that is great, getting 34-38MPG consistently over the first 10,000 miles, so we ordered a 2007 ML320 CDI AMG last February('06). The dealer wasn't aware such a vehicle was to be produced, but with the early deposit, and the order finally submitted in July, it's being built in the next few weeks. In Europe, the ML320 CDI's are getting 28-32MPG, and they are saying the US version may get slightly less (why?). As to price, we aren't confirmed yet, but with ALL the "toys", it's sure to be in the $60k range. I guess it's worth it to get the FIRST ML320 CDI AMG. The dealer is saying they can't be released until ULSD is available, but it already is available here. I think they just want to keep it a week or two to demo....... Tommy

I am a huge fan of CDIs. Fast, quiet, powerful, and great MPG!! I'm guessing the mileage is a little less here because some modifications may have been done to them to meet the US's stricter emissions standards and etc....

From what I've read on BW forum base price will be around $45k. If you spring for the AMG package (amazingly - available on the diesel!) add > $20k or so. The folks I've read about that have ordered theirs already are expecting early to mid-October deliveries.TIA

"thanks for the info... thats almost 6K more then the gas/petrol version.. how many miles one has to drive to recoup that extra 6K??Depends. Is diesel cheaper or more expensive where you live?" Diesel around here is currently running about 7-10 cents cheaper a gallon than regular. I don't know the advertised mileage for the ML but I did see mileage advertised for the E320 CDI as 27 mpg city and 37 mpg highway so I doubt the somewhat heavier ML would do quite as well but probably fairly close. Still that's better than the 22 mpg I get on my '03 ML320 gas burner. That is the very best I have done highway and I normally see 16-17 mpg around town. I'd estimate the the new ML320 CDI at around 22-25 mpg around town. This article also stated that the E320 CDI had a 780 mile range on one tank of diesel! WOW! That is impressive! I'm seriously looking at the new diesel ML. Edited by ABenzGuy 8/25/2006 6:12 PM

mike10199 Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | RE: Anyone ordered 2007 ML?? I purchased my new ML350 last week, I was actually pleasantly surprised by the added standard features for 2007 MY. There are also significant differences between Canadian and US models (I live in Canada). Standard equipment for 2007 ML 350 (Canadian models) includes: -18" Wheels (now standard for 2007) -Power Sunroof (now standard for 2007) -Heated Front Seats and Steering Wheel -Rain Sensing Wipers -Heated Washer Fluid Resevoir -Block Heater -Auto Dimming Mirrors -Heavy Duty Battery (now standard for 2007) -MB Tex Leather (now standard for 2007) From what I saw at my dealer all the 2007 models have the 4MATIC badge on the rear as well. I also ordered mine with the COMAND NAV, Rearview Camera and optional $2500 Sport Package which adds: -19" wheels (255/50R19 Turanza ER30) -Blue Tinted Glass for front side windows/windshield -Front sport seats -Alcantara Seat Inserts with M-B Tex trim. -Aluminum Interior Trim -Chrome Grill and Exterior Trim -Chrome Squared Exhaust Pipes -Interior Lighting Package My expected delivery is mid Dec. should make for a nice XMas present Edited by mike10199 9/20/2006 9:04 PM

Diesels have many benefits: - Increased torque - longer engine life - No spark plugs - longer service intervals - Increased range on a tank of fuel - Opportunity to use biofuels - In some cases cheaper fuel than premium unlead
