RE: Newbie G owner

Yeah Dutch, I thought it might. I'll be sure to take good care of her! I do have a few questions for you, or anyone for that matter. First of all I am aware that the compression in #3 cylinder is low, like 65psi vs 85-100 in the others. It was determened that the culpret is the #3 exhaust valve. With 155k miles on her she runs fine, mabey a little under powered due to this problem, but fine none the less. How long do you think I have to live doc? -James

Younger Photo

Here's a shot of it taken 22 years ago with less than 1000 km on the clock. That's along the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse in Austria.

They do age well, don't they!

RE: Newbie G owner

Thanks for that Dutch, the previous owner gave me the packet of documents and that photo included. What a great piece of it's history to have. I'll bet you were a proud man at that point. -James

Another Younger Photo

This was taken in 1987 or 1988 in Canyon de Chelly. It still has the factory tires on it.

Re: Newbie G owner

That is so cool. I can only imagine how I would feel if someone contacted me with follow-up on a vehicle that I had 20 years ago. Of course, Gs are FAR less common than Ford dually pickup trucks (and a G is FAR more likely to still be running).

Congrats to the new owner.

What's even cooler was to see the truck in Europa's parking lot and meet the current (at that time) owner. I was at Europa to get a windshield installed on my G500, and he was in for routine service. Small world!
