G_wagon_85 Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Steering Wheel I was wondering if I could put a new steering wheel on my g it is an 85' and the steering wheel is falling apart(the leather stuff). Could i add a newer steering wheel because I dont really like how big it is either. | ||

If you change the wheel to smalled diameter, your steering will be even more heavy. May not be an issue on road, but off-road that extra power is nice. -UG- | ||

The larger the circle the more torque/power you produce. With a smaller wheel at standstill there will be more effort needed on your part to turn. I believe the steering boxes on the new cars have a higher output thus less effort thus smaller wheel can be used. I have found over the years that in a Mercedes you "feel" the road.
