SWB and LWB driveshaft part interchangeability?

I'm looking to replace or rebuild the driveshafts and joints on my 460 300GD. Are there any bits from the SWB shafts I could use?

Also are the 460 and 463 driveshafts identical?

Thanks.

Re: SWB and LWB driveshaft part interchangeability?

The front shafts might interchange between LWB and SWB 460s, rears will not. Look up the parts on the EPC or the Cool Russian site and see what numbers are the same. Most of the U-Joints are staked in and not easily rebuildable. Some have had success doing this. Once the sliding splines are worn too much the shaft needs replacement. The short shaft between the tranny and T-case will work if the transmissions are the same. They are different between 4 and 5 speeds.

Your diesel will have the large compensator between the t/c and the rear shaft. This, I believe, make the diesel rear shaft different from the benzine fuel version.
