G catalytic converter

Gents- Does anyone have any advice on placing a catalytic converter back into my 85? My mechanic says he can't do it because the exhaust is near the frame. Does anyone have experience in putting a converter in this year? did you encounter a similar problem? did you reroute the exhuast? what type of converter did you use?

thanks for the help.

I've heard that the older Volvo cats worked pretty well. I've seen them placed where the mid-muffler or resonator is located. Biggest problem with that location is that it's directly under the transmission and rear engine mount; and the heat will definitely do some damage.

i see. My mechanic was talking about bending the muffler around to fit the cat... this seems pointless because cats come in different sizes, no?

DUTCH, do you know how old the volvo cats you're talking about are?
