G on trailer,

So i took the G to the dealer for the 60K mile service, but i didnt have a way home so i use our new Armada to pull it with. Im was very impressed with the Dautsin and how well it did. The armada actull has more into power and off the line power than our crew cab chevy truck with 6.0 ltr motor and 4:10 gears.

Anyway with cruise set at 65mph over the 45 mile trip tp the dealer which is all up and down hills. I averaged a low of 7.5 mpg on long hills and 11.5 on flat land. Some how it said that my "average" was 12.5 mpg once i arived.

On a side not the dealer said it takes about 6 hours to do a 60K mile serive its been there two days and counting... guess they had to get special oil shipped over

Not that most of you care be here is a picture. The trailer is 2800lbs and the G of course is close to 6K

RE: G on trailer,

Hi,

We just came back from our holiday in Norway; together with our ex-Swiss army Geländewagen trailer.

Lovely setup, very smooth drive and absolutely no bumping or hopping. The 350GD performed very good and handled its extra load perfectly.

I've changed the original eye of 58mm to a Din40mm eye and I made a new bracket to hold the new type of towing pin.

 Greeting,

Frank

Re: G on trailer,

How do those trailer work with tires that turn? That seem like it would cause problems.

off the line power

KERR - 8/10/2006 11:28 AM

... actull has more into power and off the line power than ...

Ever since the mechanical link between your foot and the throttle plate was broken (by the introduction of fly-by-wire throttles), the sensation of "off the line power" is programmable in the ECU. Some modern cars I've driven have simply amazed me with their rush of power off the line. Then, putting my foot further into the pedal I realized that the ECU programming had simply exaggerated my input to create that effect. I guess that feature sells cars well. I'd rather have smooth control, especially in tricky off road situations.

Re: G on trailer,

Its a 500. Id love to have a 55 though with the blower... Just a lot of money!

I know what you mean on the ecu deal. The GMC i was talking about has "torque management" so they call it. The truck sucks... ours is on over kill... It pulls so much power in first and second gear that you can not even spinn the tires in the rain. It has 6.0 ltr v8 with 4:10 gears. Gm said its to protect the driver on wet roads and to help aid in traction. However for $7500 more than the gas truck you can get the diesel that 650lbtq at 1600 rpms.

RE: G on trailer, running boards

Hi Stennis,

What type of running boards or rock sliders to you have on the black G towing the green one? They look solid from the little I see on the picture.
