ML320 CDI test drive coming soon.

Went to the dealer today and they got a few ML320 CID's in but they are being unpacked and cleaned now, I will try and go in on Thursday time permitting and take a test drive and let you guys know how they are. I picked up the brochure and my opinion before driving one is the car is way under rated having 221 hp and 388lb/qt and not breaking a 0-60 in 8 seconds? Heck with 215hp and 233lb tq my W163 ML 320 can do 0-60 in 9 flat and 2000 ML320 being lighter could do it with an 8 as a first number. So I have a hard time buying that a car with 6 more HP and most importantly having 155lb tq more along with a 7 speed gear box can only pull a second faster to 60 than my old ML320.

Also note its funny how in the brochure it says 388lb tq and online at mbusa.com it says 398lb tq and only 215 hp vs 221 hp in the brochure....

RE: ML320 CDI test drive coming soon.

That's more torque than the new ML500s or the ML63s!!! Talk about pulling a boat - a LARGE boat OR a bus, or an 18-wheeler! Hope the transmission on these are built to handle all of this torque.

Well I had to pick something up at the store next to the MB dealer and stopped hoping to take a drive early... Well to my disappointment they only got 3 of them in and the last one was just sold and the new owner was picking it up as I walked in. So I guess it will be a few weeks now.

I saw a nice Alpine Rain ML350 driving through the school parking the other day.

Doubt it was a students though. A lot of people use the drive as a shortcut to get from street to the other.

MI vs. VA. You do the math. It's also a relatively small high school. Only about 3-4K students. Most expensive car there I've seen was a BMW 745Li.

Alpine Rain is the only color that I dislike on W164..

I prefer Alpine Rain on the ML500, since all the chrome accents balance it out nicely. Fugly on the ML350 though.

The ML350 I saw the other day, had the AP I assume. The ML500 has the stainless steel bumper or something like that, which sets it off even better.

Any word on when they'll offer polished, aluminum brush, or chrome roof rails? Or has anyone try modding it?

On the W163, the beneath the black paint, it's an aluminum brushed appearance. So what the ML guys did was strip the paint, and get a protective coating. That's just about all there was to it. Surprised MB didn't make it brushed in the first place. Could've save money on black paint, and spent it toward QC!!

I have seen AR on ML350 with appearance package, and even then it does not look good to me... but thats just my personal preference...!!

Regarding brushed aluminium , it would surely look good .. will have to see if someone trys it out. I suspect all the modding on W164 will start after the warranty period gets over... so it will be another 2-3 years before we see any serious modding on W164.

Hopefully we'll see those mods soon enough. I think a black ML with the ML63 running boards, and the brushed roof rails would look really nice. Balance it out nicely with the bright parts.
