I thought the original ML has this, and had problems, so it was soon changed to 48/52. So why back to 50/50 if it was problematic earlier (if it really is 50/50)? What do the W164 and W251 have?

According to articles I've read, it does have 50/50 but it's some sort of limited slip differiential which allows the torque split to vary according to conditions.

The more sophisticated models have something like viscous coupling to shift power where it's needed. http://www.whnet.com/4x4/ets.html Edited by lkchris 2/12/2007 2:36 PM
