WIPER ARMS WONT COME OFF??

I have a 2000 ML320 and I've been trying to remove the front wiper arms so that I can replace the wiper motor. I've removed the plastic caps and nuts that hold the arms on but am unable to get the arms off. I've tried WD-40, Rust-Bust, all kinds of wiggling, and I've even tried using a battery terminal puller to pull them off but they won't move. Has anyone had this problem? Is there someting else I can do to get these arms off?

Thanks,
Larry

This might sound crazy, but the trick is to use a battery terminal puller. Should cost you about $8 at any auto parts store. The two clamps go underneath the wiper arm and then turn the screw down onto the wiper stud, and off it comes.

Note that his post said he tried that.

Chrome, sometimes a good overnight or two soaking will loosen it up. Give it another try in a couple of days.

I would use the battery terminal puller to put a good pull on the arm and then gently tap the arm with a hammer; these pullers sometimes need the extra vibrations of a gentle tap to unstick the item. Please remember I said gently, also a rubber hammer is no use as the g forces will be too low, a metal hammer is the thing to try.

does it rain where you are? Why not use rain-x

Kidding, I had the same problem getting mine off to repaint them. I let them soak overnight, then used a hammer and a screw driver to gently pry them off.

Mix 1 part OJ with 4 parts vodka.......then give the shaft that the wiper arms are attached to, a good old rap!

What I did was take a large flat head screw driver and pry underneath the wiper arm at the attachment point and gently tap the top of the shaft.

it also helps if you remove the nut first
