The one I have has been cut and refitted for the last time. The rubber is swollen and completely deteoriated. It took 5 weeks to get a hose off back order from Duval Motors. For those who have done it: Any tips?

The part money I can get back from MB ($34.00). I just want to do it here to save myself the trouble. I hope it doesn't take me 4-6 hours to put it on.

If I had a rack, it would have been a 20 to 30 minute job. I had to jack it up on stands and remove the left front tire. It had been replaced before because the half assed mechanic that did it left off two of the rubber clips. The new hose is made out of the same sorry soft rubber as the old one, so I'm inclined to believe the clamps were never the problem. It will do it again in about 75,000 to 80,000 miles.

Had both recall's done at the dealer and thought it would never happen to me. Keep your fingers crossed. When the hose comes off, its really hard to steer. My 2 cents. I think MB says you can drive it up to 30 miles without damaging the pump but I wouldn't try it.
