when you take it in for service, will you just deactivate it and take a chance it is not found or remove it? if you get a price for a replacement for what we snapped off let me know and we will get 2!
I plan to deactivate the unit and go in for the first "get acquainted" service and probably just ask for an oil and oil filter change.

I've read that on the first visit, they do hook up to Star Diagnostics, to see if any code shows up or not. I'll post my experience (curious to see if the RF module is really "invisible" or undetectable ).
On the cover that closes over the wiring harness channel, I actually cut the 1in(2.5 cm) piece of plastc that bridges the slot on numbers 1, 2 and 4 (counting from the front) to make removal easy in the future.

My car had barely any room in the space underneath - the satellite radio/airscarf/heated seats etc must have added many wires in there.
Anyway, I DID have to break it! :p
What a pain in the arse!
Which one did you break?
1. the cover to the wiring harness channel that has 4 tabs? or
2. the cover to the CANBUS connector, where one is supposed to insert two flat matchsticks on the side tabs and slide or push the cover horizontally and not upwards?
I broke #2.
And I'm still cursing at how easy it is to remove in retrospect.

There are many pictures and explanations on how to remove the canbus connector but still many people break something. We are still getting confused about what exactly to do. Can someone post a video of how it is done properly so we can see the procedure in action?

Need help with the CANBUS connector!
I only have one free slot and not two as the rest seem to have (except maybe SLK280SD) does anyone know which one I should remove in this case? |

IIRC, hotd had the same setup, the third slot from the first empty one. |

To be clear, I believe it is the 3rd slot, regardless, not the "third slot from the first empty one" which would be the fourth slot.
The trick is to find the side with either 1 or 2 empty slots, then use the 3rd one down on that same side. |

It's definitely the 3rd slot regardless of how many are vacant.
Interesting that US cars and a Swedish one only have one slot vacant while German and Swiss (and British?) cars have two open. |

check page 4 of this thread, mine had one empty slot, look at the picture where I had the blue tape attached to the no.3 position (counting from the end that had the empty slot). Hope the picture (label on picture states blue tape on no. 3.jpg) helps.

Mine had two empty slots, last time I'd checked Colorado resides in the states.

I've just received the installation instructions for RHD vehicles from Marcus at Piecha. The installation is very similar but the 12v supply is taken from a different place. This will involve making the power cable from the module longer. Apparently future modules for RHD cars will have this longer cable already. Another panel has to be removed to locate the power source. Apart from that, installation as decribed elsewhere. I'll try and attach the PDF file.
Anyone who manages a successful install using the new power source, please post your findings.
Thanks.
P.S. Edited to add that can't attach the PDF file as it's too large for the site! Website will only allow 300Kb max. The file is over on the Benzworld Forum though.

Installed my RHD roof module today - all working well.
I've posted some tips & pics at Benzworld to help clarify some details in the installation info.
Just hope the sun lasts a bit longer so I can enjoy it!
