phoenix44 Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Rust perferation on OEM accesories I noticed this past week a hole on the under side of one of the chrome side steps on my ML. Since they were OEM and either installed by the dealer of the factory (ML55) would they be covered under the rust perforation warranty?

But I'd bet you they would dump this under "wear & tear" since, they may argue, that they can't determine if the perforation was aggravated by rocks while you were offroading or driving on you supermarket parking lot. I don't believe they will deny that the rust started from the inside of the tube. What you want to do is first read the limitation on rust warranty protection for your vehicle. If you're still covered, get as much data on this problem as you can find. Then go to your shop and make your case. Be nice and if they balk, make a deak - you pay for parts, they pay for labor. It really depends on your local MB shop.

Unless there are actually holes in it, I doubt they will do a blasted thing about it.

Whitney accessory but OEM Mercedes??
