Need some confirmation

Can someone tell me for sure if my VIN falls under the catalytic converter Campaign?

VIN : 4JGAB72E9XA066515

From what I can tell it does.. But when I call Mercedes they seem to think different...

RE: Need some confirmation

Mine fell into the range, to but the SA explained to me that they had 2 different manufacturers during that period and that the only cats they were replacing were the ones from that particular manufacturer. They run your VIN through their database of factory production records and, from what I can tell, they know exactly which manufacturer made your catalytic converters. Mine weren't covered, either.

Sounds exactly like what I am running into... Wonder what the EPA thinks of this since they were the ones that sued MB due to this issue..

Funny how my cats are experiencing the same issue as the campaign explains.. That is what bothers me. VMI number or not.

I can relate. I noticed my left one had that tell tale scorch look around one spot of the weld, just as I've seen in a picture of it but when I questioned the dealer service, they ran the VIN and said that even though my number fell in the range, my ML did not have the converters that were deemed defective by MB. I've known of several that had to pay out of pocket for them when they were cracked but they weren't covered by the recall. It sucks. I've got 176,000 on mine and I'm not going to worry anymore about it until it just craps out.

Thanks cm!

I am going to be contacting the EPA about this to get them to tell me what the document states.. From what I have read it doesn't even mention anything about VMI numbers, just a VIN range.
