Gareth Coe Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | RE: I am interested... If you go to Belgium, you can pick up a scrappy one that runs for about 1000 euros. In the UK a nice one will change hands for about 4000 quid. We're talking ex-military 404s here BTW. Once you get on the western side of the Atlantic, prices are much higher, due simply to the fact that someone has gone to the trouble of shipping them over there. Why not wait for your next holiday and take a trip to Europe... ![]()

I don't think any ever came with an OM617 in them....you have to buy a kit and put it in yourself. The 404 mogs were 6 cyl gasolene engines and most of the diesel Mogs have a OM352 from what I understand. (I'm sute the larger and newer ones have something else however)

The under $10k Mogs in the US are 404's and they all came with a 2.2L inline six powered by gasoline. As mentioned the 617 was never fitted to a factory Mog, though it has been done by home builders. The next step up after the "starter Mog 404" models are the 406 and longer 416 models. These are mostly fitted with the 5.7L OM352 diesel. They also utilize heavier running gear than the 404s. The 406/416 models are pretty tough to come by for less than $15k. The 404 however is an excellent trail rig right out of the box.
