1-So you ordered different top and bottom bearings or you used the same?
2-you ordered the same ring #50 for top and bottom?
Thanks

Thank you, darcyocker!
This is a great write-up! It was very helpful to know what is ahead and what to take into consideration when pulling things apart.
I did my kingpin bearings and the play that was there, is now gone. It is a messy job, indeed, but doable.
And the bearing question I had above, was solved when visiting my local bearing store!

RE: The weekend warrior’s guide to a 463 front wheel bearing replacement.

Hi guys
Had a lot of trouble with part numbers on my G
In 2002 they changes the lower balljoint bearing
In your list it shows top and bottom same but the lower is bigger
For lower the bearing is 0029802002
And the cap is 4619970040
The tin cup is the same
For the outer bearing skf 32011xqvb206
Is imposible to find after market in N-America
SKF does not even stock it and the ebay listings are no good they have no stock
Was refunded 3 times
Hope this helps in the future
You should update the list

Thanks
Erick

RE: The weekend warrior’s guide to a 463 front wheel bearing replacement.

I'm doing this job right now on my 2000 G500 Europa 463. I'm somewhat under the gun to get it done in time to drive to Canada in a few days.

Does anyone know how to get the ABS sensor out of the Joint/bearing/hub housing?

I've removed the small Allen bolt, but not sure what's next. With light fiddling around, it won't budge.

Thanks in advance,
Garret

UPDATE: I understand that the sensor is just pushed in, with an O-ring sealing it, and is probably just stuck after nearly 20 years of use. So, I found the connector, and just disconnected it and left it the ABS sensor in the housing. I had to cut the neat little rubber wire separator thingies, unfortunately, as I could not get the connector pushed through them all. I know there is probably another special trick to get them through, but oh well, I need to get this job done, and I think that is low-risk.

For anyone doing this on a vehicle with ABS, I would recommend getting new sensors before you start the job. That way they can be replaced when it's easy to do. Otherwise, you're stuck with another unreliable Mercedes electrical component that after years of use, and then combined with the stress from handling during the axle service work, may not be functioning much longer.
