I am working on a version of a rear cargo platform that is easily removed when not needed and folds up into a box. I am thinking of using piano hinges to join the side flaps. I have not made actual measurements yet. It is just a concept now. Another option would be to add a sliding drawer within the box. What do you guys think? Do you see any potential issues? I have lightened the design. I also gave the right side some vertical support. I need to decide if this needs to be a knock down piece or just glued together. What do you guys think? I found this Plastic Pan which is used in dog crates. Its 53.25"L x 36.63"W x 1.5"H and fits in this new space perfectly. I covered it in marine carpet & put 3 x cargo rails on top for securing everything. My Engel Fridge fits on the LHS between the rails, all of my recovery gear, tools, spares, air compressor & chairs fit nicely underneath, everything thing else on top secured by straps secured to points on the cargo rails.  Loaded up at the end go a 6 day trip into Oman with the family. I also fitted a fold down shelf on the back door which works a treat from making lunch, cooking etc.  | |
