The headlights do not work Headlight Switch - Works Check the headlight switch Multifunction turn signal stalk and cable - No power (but other functions work) 2.5 white and black (looks similar to powered wire at headlight toggle switch - no power Question: Does anyone have a detailed schematic of the multifunction stalk and cable wiring and the connections between it and the headlight switch? Shade-tree mechanic question: If I cannot find the source of the break, what can I bypass with a new 2.5 wire so the headlights turn on, switch from high to low and optionally flash on?

That's a good thing, relays make switches last longer. However, instead of splicing in a brown wire for the ground, they used a green and yellow one. And instead of properly applying a grounding ring terminal they twisted the wire and attached it to a screw. So (1) it did not look like a ground wire and (2) did not become apparent until I started to take apart the relay - figuring the relay was not working, only to have this green and yellow wire fall onto the floor. Whatever it had been attached to came loose and it fell off. No ground to a relay, no headlights. I made up a proper brown connector, marked it "-" and "G" and bolted it to a proper grounding point on the car. I also wrapped red tape around the hot wire from the alternator, as it too was miscoloured. Reconnected battery, headlights work. Three hours of diagnosis, ten minutes of repair. Ready for the Warrant of Fitness, except the government just announced the country will remain closed for the rest of August. As a pay forward, this one is odd enough to probably not be that helpful, except for the diagnosis process that shows how the headlights get their power. 2708509 (UnscrewedGround.jpg) Attachments ---------------- UnscrewedGround.jpg (40KB - 26 downloads)

I have a 1983 280GE 461 model with some wiring modifications from a prior owner as well.
