Photo DIY- M110 Engine Thermostat R/R

Since it looks like petermerle is bored, I thought I would post this very SIMPLE job, since things are "Quiet" on P3 these days.

Wow, what a night/day difference in the level of difficulty between a M119 engine, and the M110. It takes 1 minute to remove the M110 Stat... but on the W140, it was a 2 Hour FLOG--> http://www.pointedthree.com/disc/forums/showthread.php?tid=20268&po...

I don't know what the deal is with my garage, but I have always had this WEIRD "Paired" Failures.... Engine Mounts in Two Different Cars Failing at around the same time... and now Thermostats.

With a spot of "cool" weather lately, I discovered the W140 to be running below 80C, now the old G is not getting over 1/4 on the Temperature Gauge.

Since I am due for my 2-Year Interval Coolant Change Schedule, I went ahead and did a Full System Drain/Refill. I think if ALL you needed to change was the Thermostat, I think draining about half of the Radiator's Coolant Volume, should suffice.

I suggest doing the work on a COLD engine, to prevent scalding, especially when draining the Block, since a little fluid spurts out in the process of Inserting the 13mm Drain Tubing. Use appropriate Eye and Skin Protection.
