My cute little 411.110

Well,

Since it has been so slow over on this side of the real MB vehicle forum I thought I woudl buy a Mog and join in. I have many years of Gwagens and still have a 1990 300GD but wanted another MB diesel. My wife was a bit reluctant but since I fell in love with Unimogs a decade ago she has gotten kind of numb about the whole thing. So I managed to slip a purchase in on her while she was out of town. I live in Anchorage AK (Hi coachgeo) and found a 411 listed in the paper. It was 100mile sout of town so I drove out in the Gwagen with my daughter to have a look. Well, that little 411 was so darn cute I couldn't resist. It runs, is fairly complete and was a good price.

I have been working on replacing fluids, hoses, belt etc. The electical system is hacked and lights etc are wierd but its all great fun. Here is a picture of her.

II have been looking for parts and it seems Germany and England are the places who have a lot of 411 stuff. I will check with the usuall US suspects and check them out but it is a fun project which is a nice change from the Oh So Sophisticated Gwagens.

If anyone has any leads on 411 parts new or used or advice on these little guys, lets have it. I have gotten excellent help from a few folks from Rocky Mountain Moggers.

Adam

Very nice Unimog. Those trucks are amazing.

And you are right, that is very cute.

Fantastic baby Mog you've got yourself there!

You've done the right thing by looking at the RMM web page - it's a good source of info and contacts for Moggers.

When you restore it, make sure you take lots of photos as you take things apart: it's the only way you'll remember how to put

them back together again later

I'll PM you details of someone who might be able to help with spares etc.

Good luck!

Gareth

Adam! Great to hear you got this mog. 411s are really neat little tractors. Again, "a fast tractor, not a slow truck" is the best description i've heard about the early mogs, but they are fun!

Its so cute I could vomit!

Really an adorable little truck type thingee-- What is their intended purpose? Hauling hay down hills? heh heh I assume it is a n/a diesel engine?

Is it more powerful than an OM616?

Hi 230G - Funny I used to have a 230G - SWB Cabrio. Then on to a 1998 G500 and then the very best Gwagen of all 1990 300GD (6 cylinder). Here is a older picture of the 300GD.

Yes, it is very much a tractor. Haul hay or what ever you want. I was just out today looking at a snow blower to mount upfront for the winter. It shoulb be a wonderul winter tool as well. It has the OM 636 NA diesel 4 cyl with an amazing 34 hp! No head rest required to keep your neck from snapping.

Alaska, you kept very well that secret of your GWagen being so similar to mine!

Hey Mortinson,

We have twins!!!! Nice color too. This is truly my most favorite Gwagen. I am hoping to eventually get a LWB as well as there is not much space behind the seat in the 463 SWB. It is currently in the garaage for a IP rebuilt, injectors etc. Then when it is home again, I need to rebuild the front axle with bearings, seals etc. Its worth every penny!

RE: My cute little 411.110

Adam,

I love my G (Unimog owners please excuse the intrusion in your forum but it looks like we GWagen owners have a weak spot for Unimogs as well )... it's already got an exchange MB factory manual gearbox (fitted by a former owner but it hasn't even got 15,000 miles on it!) plus a brand new Mercedes engine fitted earlier this year by my mechanic. I love it to bits. It's got ABS, aircon, heated seats, alloys (but with the narrow axles), electric windows and the complete bullbar with headlamp grilles. As you can see, no fender flares (as opposed to yours). But the Achategrün paintjob is exactly the same as yours.

That's all right - the more the merrier

We Moggers fully understand your weak spots - how do you think we got this way?
