RE: when did they stop making a crew cab

KERR,

I think that MB still makes a Crew cab unimog, they just aren't avalible in the U.S. The U3000/u4000/u5000 series of unimog has a very similar cab to the 90's SBU trucks (the grille changed) and I think I remember seeing a few that were Crew cabs, but these aren't legal for import into the U.S. Now, the U300/400/500 series Unimogs (which aren't supposed to be as good off road) marketed by freightliner in the U.S. aren't offered as a crew cab, but I couldn't tell you why (although I bet that it has something to do with the DOT and their restrictions). In a nut shell, the newest Crew Cab Unimog you will be able to get in the states will be in the mid or possibly late 90's, and VERY pricey.

Cheers,
Ben

Ah... thanks... i was just wondering there is a 05 regualr cab mog on e bay... its "only" $109K lol...

What i was thinking was that people buy the biggest truck you can these day, those Ford F650 crew cabs and now they make that excursion looking F650. Those trucks bring $120-160K. Be awsome if you had the money to just call up a Mog dealer and be like i want a black crew cab mog on the biggest tires that fit

RE: when did they stop making a crew cab

That would be cool to be able to just order a new crew cab Unimog, and if you had the time and $$$ you probably could get one anyway, but the import fees on it would be rediculous to get a registered importer to bring it in. I would think that Freightliner/Mercedes would be smart to offer a crew cab over here, it would probably sell better than the regular cab Mogs, especially with the prices of the f650's and such. I know I'd much rather buy a DoKa Unimog than a F650 or other equivalant.

Cheers,
Ben
