Well, 1987 was just yesterday, wasn't it?

A hard worker, a U1200 with 8 tons total. A plow and sand-spreader is mounted.

There are some issues, like a broken right front spring. And there are some hydraulic leaks.

I must admit, there are a lot of levers unfamiliar for a bus and truck guy, but I'll get the hang of it, eventually.

The spring replacement seems straight forward enough. Planning to lift the chassis, and lower the axel. Then removing the upper and lower bolts. Maybe the shock absorber too. I'm a bit concerned about the angle between the upper and lower bolts, I can imagine that threading the bolts through the plate and brackett might be tricky.

Any views?

The plan is to get some snow clearing jobs, and to use it for "special ops". And of course it will relieve the G as tractor. Well, almost.

Spring replacement is very strait forward on the 1200's, raise the chassis, suspend the axle, remove the spring bolts, raise the axle enough to remove the shock bolt on the side that the spring is being replaced on, then drop the axle lower untill the spring is slack, remove old spring, and reassemble with new spring. The top bolt is a bit tricky to install sometimes, but with some patience should slide in enough to get the nut on, then tighten it up the rest of the way with wrenches.

Well, I got the new spring, bought from a good Mog shop, with the part number from EPC. The odd thing is, it doesn't look quite the same. Could there be some modifications because of the plow? It is the 04 04 I got.

The spring is broken, so it will be easy to remove. Should I mount the upper bolt somewhat loosely first, and then grapple with the bottom later?

And yes, the pooch is crazy about riding G. She knows something good always comes out of that. Let's hope she develops the same kind of relationship to Mr. Mog.

Bad side is, the 240GD will have to go. Hate to see it go. All that care and labour. The questions and comments from prospectors, gives me the feeling of offering cake to pigs.

Thanks, but I don't think it's long till it's gone. The phone has been chiming, and some has seen and tested it.
